Rosewood x Paws in the Bath
Sandy Nonnewitz
Owner/Operator

Sandy began her career in the canine care industry in 2003 as a professional groomer. After enjoying her career for several years, she wanted to expand her knowledge and graduated as a Certified Canine Trainer.

In 2013, Sandy expanded her canine career and became part owner of RoseWood Pet Resort in Stouffville and in 2017 purchased a second location in Scarborough/Markham.

After selling the location in Stouffville in 2019, Sandy is now the sole owner and operator of the location in Scarborough/Markham.

All new team members at RoseWood Pet Resort receive one-on-one training to enhance their existing skills and receive further knowledge through seminars and practical handling experience.

Sandy is also a proud mom of 2 dogs and sister to 1 dog: Beau (German Shepherd/Malinois), Engel (Black German Shepherd) and recently adding her Mom's rescue dog, Lucky, to the pack.

Sadly, Rudy (mini Australian Shepherd) passed away in 2020. He was a big part of RoseWood from Day 1 and is greatly missed by staff and clients. Ripkin, retired GSD bomb sniffer from overseas, is also greatly missed. He was adopted at 13 yrs old and had his best last year with Sandy and her pack with the help of the Private RoseWood Dog Park where he learned to run free and play for the first time. Rudy and Ripken are surely still running around in spirit, each with a ball in their mouth!

Sandy's extensive background, experience and exceptional team ensures that RoseWood Pet Resort is able to meet all of your dog's needs, and all of your needs as well!

Kirstin began her career in the canine care industry as an Animal Care Technician, caring for sick and injured pets in veterinary clinics since 1990.

As Kirstin gained experience and knowledge, she secured a coveted position as the Head Animal Care Attendant at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic and Referral Centre South (VEC) for over a decade. In this position, Kirstin was responsible for managing a team of 50 Animal Care Attendants, including overseeing their small animal handling and delivery of care during emergency situations.

Leslie began her career in animal care in the 1980's as a Dairy Farmer caring for her beloved Jersey cows. After 18 years she moved to the Briars Resort, spending 15 years building lasting bonds with owners, guests and staff.

In 2017, Leslie started at RoseWood Pet Resort, in Stouffville, along with her English Mastiff, Tyson, who passed in 2018. Leslie was also the proud owner of Camille who she adopted in 2019. Sadly, Camille is no longer with us and a great loss to Leslie and RoseWood.

Frequently Asked Questions?

Our regular Reception hours for dropping off and picking up your dog are as follows:

Monday to Friday: 7:00 am to 10:00 am & 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm

Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 am to 10:00 am & 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Public Holidays: 9:00 am to 10:00 am & 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Please bring enough food for you dog's vacation, plus extra, in case of travel delays. You may also bring treats and toys for your dog as well.

There is plenty of room for a dog bed. You can bring your own or we can provide one for your dog, at no extra cost.

If you need to drop off or pick up your dog while our Reception is closed during the day, we can make arrangements for an appointment time that is more convenient between those hours. If you are running late for your appointment time, please let us know.

If you are unable to arrive by the time we close for Reception to pick up your dog, we can arrange for you come the following morning.

Yes, we do require that your dog is up-to-date with their vaccinations. You can upload a copy to your file using the Client Portal link or Gingr for Pet Parents app or you can bring us a hard copy and we will add it to your file.

We also require that your dog is on Tick and Flea medication.

If your dog is unable to continue to be vaccinated due to medical reasons, we will accept Titer reports.

Your dog will sleep in their own individual pen beside other dogs so they can all see each other. Our pens range in size from 4 feet by 5 feet to 5 feet by 10 feet, depending on the size of your dog or if you have more than one dog and would like them to stay in the same pen.

We like to take our time introducing new dogs to our Daycare pack.

First, we will spend time one-on-one with your dog so that they can get to know us. We will then bring your dog outside in a yard beside the Daycare pack so that they can safely sniff the dogs through the fence without being overwhelmed.

If your dog seems comfortable, we will then bring one of the Daycare dogs in to meet your dog. If that goes well, we will bring another dog, and so on.

After that your dog will be integrated into the Daycare group and the play will begin!

Your dog will determine when we move on from each step. Some dogs will be in the group within 10 minutes and others may take a few weeks if they are really nervous. We want all new dogs to have a stress-free experience so we always allow the dog to take all the time it needs to be comfortable.
